Points to Ponder: October 16, 2017
Today we shall reflect on whether God is omnipotent? God has been upheld as omnipotent. It is believed that God is all powerful. He can do whatever He wants. This is true. However, it is assumed that God can bring the dead alive or cure the sick or do magical acts. But today we should think about even if God can, why should He be interested in doing so? To understand this, let us take up the power of the President of India to grant pardons, etc, and to suspend, remit or commute sentences in certain cases given under Article 72 of the constitution. Does the President exercise this power in every case? If not why? Because it is said that with great power comes great responsibility.
God is omnipotent and also the ocean of knowledge. The laws of physics govern the physical aspects of the universe and the laws of spirituality govern the non physical aspects of the universe. This world and every single event in this world is never an act of randomness. Everything has a cause and an effect and God is in complete awareness of it. He therefore never interferes with the occurrence of the world. He is almighty but tomorrow we will understand what power He wields.
